I've been meaning to post this journal entry a while ago but it didn't feel right until now.

A few months ago I encountered a spider in my room. It was a hastle to catch it and set it outside. As I was trying to catch it I thought to myself "It would be so much easier if I squashed this thing, thatn way I could finally go to bed."

I immediatly realized what a terrible thought that was.

How selfish am I to take another creatures life just because it is an inconvience to me? How arrogent am I to give up on my duty to bring another creature back where it belongs? The moment the thought passed my mind I vowed to try to never think that again.

Although I know that it will pop into my mind in the future I will take it as an opportunity to reflect on my place in the world, the universe and everyother living thing on this planet. And I will again remind myself that I am the same as that spider, I am no better or less than a blade of grass growing on my front lawn.
